Prabhu Energy Labs Awarded Grant from NGIF Accelerator to Advance Methane Slip Capture in Canada5/28/2025
In May 2025, Prabhu Energy Labs (PEL) was awarded $205,887 CAD from the NGIF Accelerator’s Industry Grants program to support a field demonstration of its patented Oxiperator technology. The project will take place at upstream and midstream natural gas compressor stations in Alberta, Canada, with support from industry participants including Birchcliff Energy. The Oxiperator is a first-of-its-kind porous, high-temperature reactor that captures and oxidizes methane slip emissions—low-concentration methane released by lean-burn natural gas engines. Unlike traditional methods, the Oxiperator operates without catalysts, using gradual, complete oxidation to eliminate methane, VOCs, and carbon monoxide from engine exhaust streams. Designed for rapid deployment on both new and existing engines, the system offers a scalable and cost-effective solution to reduce emissions equivalent to gigatons of CO₂e annually—making it a powerful tool for achieving industry-wide decarbonization goals. “We’re excited to receive this support from NGIF Accelerator as we take our Oxiperator technology into the field,” said Edan Prabhu, CEO of Prabhu Energy Labs. “This Canada–US partnership helps us move quickly to address the urgent need for methane mitigation across North America and beyond.” NGIF Accelerator President & CEO John Adams praised the project as a strong example of NGIF’s commitment to de-risking clean technologies through field validation and industry collaboration.
